Thinking Out Loud.

Harris Bridge, Corvallis, Fall 2010

Wouldn't it be better in text language to abbreviate the word come to cme instead of cum

Noticing more in the blog world that people are adding PayPal to their blogs and asking for donations.  Did pan handling just go viral?

Lots of people bitching about the rain, snow etc.  Do you think that this summer when they are out on the lake or watering their yards or taking a long shower they will remember?

I wish people would look in their own community to help than joining a cause on Facebook that is in another country and in which we have no control over.  Isn't there a saying 'Charity begins at home'?

Discovered a new wine estate yesterday.  Namaste Vineyards.  How appropriate don't you think?

Internet, faceless and bringing out the worst.

Michael S. Williamson / THE WASHINGTON POST

This evening I was reading an article in The Washington Post about Kenneth Roberson.  A young man who graduated top of his class against many odds and now he is struggling to find a job to pay that outstanding amount he needs for college.

Here is the article:

The Washington Post

The comment section is what got to me.  I really shouldn't read them.  People are ugly when they are not face to face.

All I can say is I hope Kenneth doesn't read the comments.

Thursday Thoughts.

When you stop questioning why and accept it is so,
is when you are ready to walk into the forest with no fear.

At the end of the day...

... it doesn't matter how many you have around you, what matters is that they were there for all four seasons.

First timer and conversations with T.

I think I must be one of the very few people out there that gets so excited about voting.  I voted for the very first time last year and today we had a special election.  I know, give me time and I too will be jaded.

Today was T's first time to vote.  In Oregon our ballots are mailed to our homes and then we fill in the little circles and take it into voting stations and drop it into the box.  Voting increased when Oregon went to this format.

Anyway I digress... back to T and his first time voting.

This is how the conversation went:

Me:  I really think you should take your ballot down so that I can get a picture of you voting for the first time.

T:  Mom, seriously?

Me:  I think it would be great to add to your album of all your first's.  Don't you?

T:  So you want to take a picture of all my first's?

Me:  Yes

T:  Mom, ALL my first's?

Me:  Yes, what's your problem... oh, okay, wait, what?  Give your ballot to Bear he is going to the library.

Creating memories with T just got a whole lot weirder.

It doesn't take much to make me happy.

I took this picture.

Yesterday we went to Left Coast Wine Estate for dessert and I was so excited to learn that they are now offering MAGNUM, yes I said MAGNUM Pinot Noir.  First bottle is $45.00 and then you bring your bottle back and they refill it for $30.00.  Yes I know they do this with beer growlers, but have never seen it done with wine.

I am so happy I can't see straight, or maybe it is the wine.  Anyway, how perfect is this because now when you ask me how much wine have I had, I can truthfully say, one bottle.

It's so simple.

Every time I go back to South Africa I always chuckle when I buy medicine.  This is the packaging.  No child proof caps.  No warning labels.  No having to bend the pill enclosure thingamabob in opposite directions while facing East on one foot.  This is it.

So simple.  Keep medicine out of the reach of children.

The End.

It's a what?

While enjoying a very relaxing, doing absolutely jack shit on Mother's day, I caught up on my blog reading.  I discovered this one blog and while reading through it discovered another blog and well came across this picture.

It is this.

So happy to be living in the 21st century aren't you?

p.s.  There is a website out there to make your own solar powered vibrator.  Just saying.

Have a wonderful day Vinny C and may Mrs. C fulfill your every wish and whim because today is your birthday and we all know what that entitles you to.

Unlimited gaming, crotch scratching, flatulent farting, cheetos eating, beer swigging day with no bitching.

Fast Five Friday

Thanks to Tim at Life of Riles for this great idea.  Click on the link and read what it is all about then come back and read my Fast Five.

So here are my Favorite Five wines... surprised?  You shouldn't be.

The Chocolate Block ~ Boekenhoutskloof, South Africa.  Only a few barrels are made a year so if you see it on your liquor store shelf buy it because it might not be there the next day.
Fast becoming a cult wine.

Chameleon ~ Jordan Winery, South Africa.  Called Chameleon for a reason, the taste is totally different from what you smell (the bouquet).  It will blow your mind, but it is hard to find in the States It is sold under the label Jardin.

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, France ~ okay I know not 'technically' a wine, but in my top five and this is my list so...

Pinot Noir, Johan Vineyards, Willamette Valley, Oregon.  The first winery we take guests to.

Pierre Jourdan, Clos Cabriere, South Africa ~ sparkling wine and nummy any time!

So there you have it, now what are yours?

Who said I wouldn't survive camping?

While on safari in South Africa we stayed in a tent.  I don't know why people snickered about me camping, I did quite well considering the accommodations.  We had to take a boat to our tent.

This was our tent

and this was the bathroom.

I think I am ready for summer and camping this year, all hubby has to worry about is setting up camp in the style I am accustomed.

I don't think that is too much to ask do you?
