Every time I go back to South Africa I always chuckle when I buy medicine. This is the packaging. No child proof caps. No warning labels. No having to bend the pill enclosure thingamabob in opposite directions while facing East on one foot. This is it.
So simple. Keep medicine out of the reach of children.
The End.
we really do make things way to hard...
ReplyDeleteAmerican is too protective. Especially of it's idiots. Or maybe it's because they think we're all idiots. Either way...
ReplyDeleteI guess there are fewer lawyers?
ReplyDeleteMy headaches are always worse after attempting to get into the bottle...first press down and then twist and then try to get the stupid wrapper off and then all that cotton... ugh.
ReplyDeleteoh yeah - none of this mamby pamby American stuff. Brooke makes a great point re the twisting thing. Ever tried twisting the top down with one hand while holding a baby in the other. It's counterproductive because you end up dropping the kid on the floor anyhow.
ReplyDeleteWhen will I learn to proofread? I am an American Idiot... Anyway. Ever noticed how easily kids get them opened? So what if they swallow a few in the process. Getting your stomach pumped builds character.
ReplyDeletewe truly make things so hard dont we :)
ReplyDeleteThat's how medicine is packaged in the Philippines as well. It's amazing how hazardous situations only happen as often as they do in America... I mean isn't that why they take the precautions they do now? By the way, the university I'm attending next semester offers a study abroad program in South Africa! I almost died because my dream CAN come true!
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that it is hard to take medicines IN to Africa as well?
ReplyDeleteThank you blogger, for stealing the comments I'd already left... Anyway. Didn't I say something along the lines of, "it's still easier for kids to open these damn safety bottles. If they swallow a few in the process, having their stomach pumped builds character." I'm pretty sure if things keep going the way they have, they'll probably start passing laws on how we should wipe our asses.
ReplyDeleteAll of my comments have gone bye bye. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteIt sort of cracks me up. My dad was a cop and there were 4 children in our house. We were told never to touch dad's service revolver (kept on top of the highboy in our parents bedroom). Guess what? We never touched it. Child proof packaging has gotten ridiculous. I can't open the darned things without a sledge hammer! How can I "subscribe" to your blog? I love this!
ReplyDeleteWhat I think I said was, it seems that there are fewer lawyers and litigation in South Africa.
ReplyDelete@Linda ~ I think you just click follow?
ReplyDelete@Ant ~ you hit the nail on the head... when you say the word sue in South Africa everyone giggles.
Thank you! I don't know why I didn't see that the first time!
